Sisqo Lives Out His Fantasy

SisqoSuperstar, recording artist and “The Thong Guy,” SISQO joins the cast of “Fantasy,” at the Luxor, for a limited engagement – through December 25. We caught up with him recently, in-between shows, where he chatted with us about “Fantasy,” and what we can expect from him in the future.

TILV: So, how did you get this gig?

SISQO: So, basically Kevin (Kevin Peck, his manager) and I, we have a lot of business here in Vegas recently, and while we we’re out here, we wanted to know how the shows were, and we looked around and saw Fantasy. And ironically, we had a friend of ours performing at the show, so we came to the show and she introduced us to Anita (Anita Mann, Fantasy producer), and we were taken by the show. I mean, I was smiling like a kid on Christmas! Well, they did their number, and of course, the girls were topless, but the thing that got me was how classy it was. And of course, I was thinking, “Is there any way I can be part of it?” So we started talking about that and throwing out ideas like me performing at a pool party in the Spring,  where  I do about a half an hour performance after the girls,  and Anita  said,” I wish I could put you in the show, if you have enough time;” and I said, “I only need a day.”

TILV: Did you need much prep-time for this performance?

SISQO: The girls got together with my choreographer, Silk Smooth; and it started out that way where I only have one song, but we added a couple of bells and whistles, so every day is a surprise. It was simple for me – and all I had to do was make a phone call – and they put it together. The funny thing was that I learned the routine about two and a half days before the show; and about an hour of rehearsal on opening day. Well, yeah that’s pretty much been my entire career – the longest rehearsal I’ve had in my career has been about a week and a half.

TILV: How is it like working with the girls?

SISQO: (Laughs) How’s it like? Well, first of all, they’re really professional. And they just walk around very naturallyif you catch my drift. This is my fantasy, actually…

TILV: Can we expect you to come back for a repeat-performance?

SISQO: We have a couple of things going on right now. I actually started writing a show, and hopefully I can have a recurring gig here, if Vegas likes the concept. What I’m doing in “Fantasy” is icing on an already-delicious cake…

TILV: What will your show be about?

SISQO: It’s pretty out there too. Basically I did my research, and I looked up Vegas history – The Rat Pack – and Kevin and I started studying what’s going on in Vegas. You know, the Jabbawockeez are here now; they’re hip-hop, and my dancers know those guys. All of my guys are accomplished acrobats; I also flip myself. So, it’s a little bit Cirque du Soleil over here, and “Jabbawockeez” over there, and maybe even a little “Human Nature” thrown-in But my show is gonna be a little more theatrical – more dancing, acrobatics, singing, hip-hop, R&B… think Cirque du Soleil – on steroids, with a flash of Fantasy in it. I think Celine Dion is doing the same thing…

TILV: Except she doesn’t flip…

SISQO: (Laughs) Vegas is the new L.A., everybody’s trying to make things happen right now, it’s like “poppin!” It’s not just myself, but a lot of hip-hop artists want to come in, and I hope to spearhead that.I want to be known as “Mr. Vegas.” Hopefully, they see the vision, and if not, they can just see my tour show…
