Celine’s Vegas Return – Fan or not, these days, it seems Celine Dion is to Vegas today, what Elvis was, in the seventies – an almost permanent fixture on The Strip. After five consecutive years of sold-out shows at The Colosseum, the superstar embarked on a year-long worldwide tour in 2008-2009, visiting five continents, 25 counties and playing to more than 3 million fans. She took a year off after that, for some family-time, and is now in the midst of preparing for her return to the Las Vegas stage, for a three-year residency.

Simply billed “Celine,” the new production features 31 musicians, consisting of a full orchestra and band. The concept promises to be one-of-a-kind – centered on capturing the romance of classic Hollywood movies and of course, performed with a stunning, visual presentation.

“I’m coming back home to The Colosseum at Caesars Palace and I’m excited about it,” said Celine. “With the orchestra and band we’re going to be able to perform our songs like never before. The repertoire is going to be extraordinary… a mix of timeless hit songs made famous by some incredible artists, along with all the favorites that my fans like to  hear me sing. It’s going to be a very beautiful show, and I think we’ll be raising the bar higher than we’ve ever done before. There’ll be some truly wonderful moments… I can’t wait!”

There’s no discounting the stats – Dion’s first Vegas residency, “A New Day…” premiered March 25, 2003. Although originally contracted for three years, it was extended for another two more due to its success. When it ended on December 15, 2007, it racked-up more than 700 shows and 3 million spectators, and grossed over $400 million during its five-year run.

Having sold more than 200 million albums around the world, Celine Dion is one of the most immediately recognized, widely respected and successful performers in pop history. During her spectacular career, Celine has been honored with over 1000 awards. She is a five-time Grammy Award-winner, and two of her recordings have won Academy Awards for “Beauty and the Beast” and “My Heart Will Go On,” (from Titanic). She has earned seven American Music Awards, 20 Juno Awards (from Canada) and an astonishing 40 Felix Awards (from Quebec). In 2004, she received the Diamond Award at the World Music Awards recognizing her status as the best-selling female artist of all time; and in 2007, she received the Legend Award in recognition of her global success and outstanding contribution to the music industry. Most recently, she was named “America’s Favorite Singer” by a Harris Poll released May 6, 2010. In great company, U2 took the number two spot, while the Beatles and Elvis Presley tied for third place.
