A
Spectacular Second
Phantom
– The Las Vegas Spectacular has celebrated two successful
years on the Las Vegas Strip and has proven to be at the forefront
of Las Vegas entertainment. Not only was the show featured on the
2008 season of American Idol, but the show’s popularity
in Las Vegas allows for hopes of celebrating yet another year of
success.
“Let’s
plan on meeting here next year,” Tony Award-winner Anthony
Crivello (the Phantom) said after the 2 year anniversary performance
on June 24, 2008. “Same time, same place.”
Demonstrating
popularity with sold out shows and directed by 21-time Tony Award-winner
Harold (Hal) Prince, the show’s original director, and guided
by the legendary Andrew Lloyd Webber, Phantom – The Las
Vegas Spectacular is a 95-minute spectacle featuring a live
orchestra, elaborate new effects, a breathtaking chandelier experience,
and includes every song from the original production.
In
anticipation of opening Phantom for the first time ever in Las Vegas,
The Venetian employed David Rockwell, one of the most renowned designers
of today, to design the $40 million custom-built theatre. The unique
theatre was designed to create an ongoing sense of anticipation
with a layout that literally surrounds the audience in action and
from the moment guests enter the magnificent custom-built theatre,
they find themselves in the famed Paris Opera House immediately
entranced in the Phantom's world.
As
the show starts, audience members are at an auction at the Paris
Opera House, where an old man, Raoul Vicomte de Chagny, bids for
a musical box which seems to hold some special memory. The remnants
of a chandelier are revealed and they are swept back to the time
of Raoul’s youth, when the chandelier hung in splendor at
the Opera House.
The
excitement then begins as the young Raoul, patron of the Opera House,
voices his enthusiasm for the new star of the Opera House, Christine,
who will only reveal that her teacher is the Angel of Music whom
her late father had always promised would one day visit her. As
soon as Christine is alone, however, a figure appears. It is the
Phantom, the teacher whom she has never seen. The Phantom draws
Christine into the dark and within his lair, the Phantom reveals
the essence of his music and philosophy.
Audience
members are then whisked through the world's most recognized musical
theatre masterpiece with special effects and enhancements made possible
today by modern technology into the timeless music and story of
Phantom. Come experience this truly unique production and a rare
opportunity to see a work of art reinvented some 20 years after
it was created. Phantom at The Venetian is an experience not to
be missed!
Now,
with an expanded Broadway-caliber cast featuring Tony Award-winner
Anthony Crivello, known for his roles on Broadway in Kiss of
the Spider Woman and Les Misérables sharing
the title role, Phantom is once again poised to change the face
of live theatre. Tickets for Phantom can be purchased by calling
