Restaurant Review:

Big Al's Oyster Bar

Whether you prefer your oysters and clams freshly-shucked or are in the mood for some Voodoo mussels, pan roasts, bouillabaisse or pasta dishes, you’ll be delighted to find that Big Al’s Oyster Bar offers a full spectrum of seafood specialties prepared and served with an authentic Creole/Cajun flair in a casual atmosphere.

Located at The Orleans, this moderately priced traditional French Quarter-style restaurant offers oysters and clams on the half-shell, as well as chowders, oyster stew, and crab and shrimp cocktails. For the more adventurous, there are a nice selection of alcohol-infused oyster shooters (try the Cajun Ole Shooter for something spicy!) and an array of wine selections including sparkling wines, Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, Red Zinfandel, Shiraz, and Gamay.

To start, diners can choose from lump crab cocktail or Louisiana crab cakes, and from there the possibilities are endless. One recommendation is the crab salad layered with bacon, eggs, tomato, and blue Cheese, served on a bed of romaine topped with avocado and your choice of dressing for those seafood lovers that are in the mood for something light, but want more than an appetizer.

Other dinner entrees (all served in a LARGE size Louisiana bowl) include linguini and clams cooked in a garlic butter white wine sauce with herb; jambalaya pasta with andouille sausage, chicken, shrimp, Tasso ham, peppers and onions in a Creole sauce with fettucine; and chicken scampi with fresh vegetables in a creamy pesto garlic lemon butter, served over linguine.

To top it off, Big Al’s also has a great lunch menu available, which features smaller portions of their dinner entrees from 11 AM to 4 PM.

Big Al’s Oyster Bar is open Sunday to Thursday from 11 AM to 10 PM, and Friday and Saturday from 11 AM to midnight. For more information or to make reservations, please call 702-365-7111 or visit www.orleanscasino.com.
